How to Connect 2 Internet Service Providers to Get Better Speed?

We have all been through times when we’ve wondered “how do I increase my internet speed?” If you are someone who wants to increase their internet speed or simply improve your network capacity, it is possible to do so by connecting connect 2 internet service providers.

Combining two internet service providers can be quite helpful in enhancing network performance. Though it sounds like a technical task, you can easily do it by yourself at home.

Read down below to find out how to connect two internet service providers to improve internet speed.

Method 1: Use a Load-Balancing Router for Your Internet

A load balancing router allows you to connect all the internet connections available to you, into one big wireless connection. If you have more than one wireless connections in your home, you can directly connect multiple modems to the load balancing router.

Step 1: To connect two or more wireless connections, all you will be required to do it to connect the ethernet cord to the router.

Step 2: Go to the load balancing configuration. Open your web browser and enter your router’s IP address in the address bar. This will direct you to the load balancing setup page.

Step 3: On the page, navigate to the “advanced tab”, click on the “load balance” option. This will allow you to change several setting options.

Step 4: Uncheck Enable Application Optimized Routing and Enable Bandwidth Based Balance Routing option.

Step 5: Ensure that the default gateway address of the WAN connections is different from the IP address assigned to load balancing router. The default IP of the router is usually 192.186.0.1, if it is the same then change your default gateway IP.

Step 6: Once all of the steps above have been completed, your networks will be merged into one big wireless connection. Run a speed test to determine the difference in speed between your new merged connection and your old connection.
